Knights of Columbus

A message from the Grand Knight,

Give Your Time, Talent or Treasure, and Give Where it is Needed Most. Throughout the year we meet for fellowship, cook dinners for various church functions, conduct fundraising activities to raise monies to help with our monetary donations to the church, other charitable groups, and to support our own programs.

Knights of Columbus are committed to serving their families, church parishes and communities especially when it matters most. Together, we’re empowering Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their church parish, at work and in their community.

Ladies' Altar Society

Altar Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church

The Altar Society remains committed to the people of Chauvin

and to our Diocese of Houma‑Thibodaux, serving as faithful stewards

of the gifts God has entrusted to us.

 

Mission Statement

The St. Joseph Altar Society is dedicated to preserving the beauty and sanctity of the altar, assisting in the preparation of liturgical celebrations, and nurturing a spirit of unity, prayer, and service among the community and people of our parish.

Vision Statement

The St. Joseph Altar Society seeks to build a united, faith‑filled community that enriches and strengthens the spiritual life of our parish through service, devotion, and love.

 Purpose

  1. To care for and beautify the altar, sanctuary, sacristy, and sacred vessels.
  2. To furnish and maintain vestments, altar linens, albs, and liturgical cloths.
  3. To decorate the altar on Sundays, feast days, and major liturgical celebrations.
  4. To promote devotion and reverence in the celebration of the liturgy.
  5. To support the parish through charitable works, fundraising, and service.
  6. To foster fellowship and spiritual growth among members through participation in the Mass and sacraments.

What we Do

 ·        Maintenance of the altar and altar linens

·        Purchasing sacred wine, hosts, candles, and flowers

·        Assisting with receptions for religious education

·        Fundraising through sweet events & religious item sales

·        Preparing the church for Easter Vigil & Christmas

·        Assisting with St Joseph and/or KC sponsored events

Membership

  • Eligibility: Open to all members of  St. Joseph Parish who are practicing Catholics.
  • Dues: $10 annually, payable in March.
  • Joining: Simply attend any meeting and fill out a registration form.

Honorary Membership:

·        Members age 65+ who have paid dues for at least three previous years become honorary members and are no longer required to pay dues.

·        Monthly Meeting: 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 PM

·        Location: Youth Center

·        Rosary: 6:00 PM before the meeting — all are welcome

Bible Class

St. Joseph Church offers Bible Classes to the public. Classes will cover Old Testament and New Testament books as well as certain themes in the Bible such as salvation history and Christological typology. All classes are rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church and help to serve as a way to teach the lay faithful about apologetics. Attendees will get a basic understanding of the Biblical roots of Catholic teachings and how the Bible is--and always was a Catholic Book.

Book Club

Our book club is a community dedicated to exploring the church’s teachings through the use of books and DVD’s by Catholic authors such as Matthew Kelly and Dr. Brant Pitre. We strive to create an engaging, respectful space for all members to share and grow in their faith. All are invited to attend the weekly book club meetings. Dates and times will be posted online and, in the bulletin, when scheduled.
